This paper, led by academic physiotherapist Katie Robinson with support from ACHA Professor Adam Gordon, described a qualitative study undertaken in care homes in the East Midlands of England. Observations and interviews were used to understand barriers and facilitators to implementing evidence-based falls care in these settings.
The study found that effective falls management was challenged by integration across disjointed care systems, workforce challenges and the complexity of resident care (where other priorities competed with falls prevention). The paper goes on to outline how some of these difficulties can be overcome through collaborative working with care home staff. You can read the paper in full here.
