This review article considers the current state of the art around how we identify people at risk of respiratory infections who might benefit from vaccination. It looks at the evidence around pneumococcal pneumonia, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and COVID-19.
It identifies important areas of uncertainty around which staff groups should be vaccinated, and how frailty and multiple long-term conditions should influence recommendations. It talks about the importance of considering older people with age related changes to their immune system (immunosenescence) as part of future guidelines. Read the article in full here.
